Hunt Complications
Weather
The weather can change quickly in the mountains especially as the season progresses towards those “Primetime” dates the likelihood of heavy rain, snow and fog impacting hunting can increase. We do our best to work during weather however at times it can stop charter flights from picking up or dropping off clients from the field as scheduled. We expect clients to understand that weather is out of our control, other clients of the charter service may be also stranded and flights will happen in order of bookings and as result you may lose days of hunting. We expect you to have patience if this impacts your hunt. There will be no extensions or refunds for weather unfortunately. Delays like this are part of every outfit with these remote logistics. If I could change the weather I would not be an outfitter!
Equipment failure
We aim to use great gear, equipment and vehicles so that you have the best opportunity and experience on your hunt. Our hunting area is located in the true wilderness of the north which is very tough on anything we use, and at times things may break. In the case that a vehicle or equipment breaks we will do our best to fix the problem immediately and ask for your patience while dealing with it.
Horses
We have great horses but sometimes they have minds of their own and can wander from camp in search for food, occasionally you may lose time hunting as wranglers catch horses further away from camp. Wrecks can also occur when horses get stuck in boggy terrain or spook for unforeseen reasons, our guides and wranglers know how to handle these situations if they arise, but it can be tough and we expect your patience and understanding if a wreck occurs. It’s all part of the adventure no matter where you go and horses are involved.
Lakes/Rivers freezing
We line up our hunts to finish prior to the general time lakes and rivers in our area start to freeze (earlier at higher elevation) however on occasion we may need to run a hunt short if temperatures drop and lakes begin to freeze as the only way out is via charter plane. The charter company has the responsibility to keep their staff and passenger safe and we don’t second guess their expertise in this decision.
The hunting is still great as the season goes longer, so it is a balance between hunting prime time with the best opportunity and not getting stuck. Upon booking a hunt we expect you to understand that this is one of the risks involved and no refunds for shortened hunts will be provided.
3rd party Charter – Schedules and potential issues
Airplanes are part of the North, the only access is by air and we cannot control all aspects that involve planes. Weather is the most common issue with flight schedules and on occasion days will be lost and plane trips get behind. Other issues like unforeseen mechanical problems etc can happen and safety for everyone is the most important part. If something arises with the Charter we will do our best to mitigate the problem as quickly as possible but your patients is required. We cannot make experienced pilots fly if something they consider something is unsafe at the time like fog or strong wind.
